Nuclear Energy Institute
The goal of the Nuclear Energy Institute(NEI) is to create a world powered by clean renewable energy. This directly relates to my topic which is focusing on nuclear energy as a sustainable and viable option to create clean energy in the future. They have many links to many different statistics and facts about nuclear energy that could be very useful to me in the future. Seeing as they are aiming to create more nuclear power plants and push the world that direction they do not talk about the drawbacks that nuclear energy could have as much. However, I think this is a credible and good source for positive reflections on how nuclear energy is and could help the world in the future. This organization is run by a board of directors including representatives from 20 nuclear utilities, major nuclear suppliers, advanced nuclear technology companies and other segments of NEI membership. From what I have seen on the site they are trying to spread the information about how beneficial nuclear energy can be and how large a piece of the renewable energy scene it already is. NEI accomplishes this by spreading facts and recent news articles written about the nuclear industry. The website focuses more on the good of the nuclear industry instead of the bad of other industries. The money that they fund raise appears to go to good uses such as providing grants for the industry, lobbying, printing useful publications, and paying their employees. I think that this group is pushing for a very important development not just in the United States but the world as a whole. (WC:272)
