#2: Your Major

My decision process for my major was not extremely involved. I was very unsure of what exactly I wanted to do in college and the career finder websites and surveys that my schools career advisor had us take did not really help narrow down what major I wanted to be in. However, I did know I wanted to be in a STEM, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics field as that is what I enjoyed most throughout high school. Senior year of high school I took physics and was a teachers assistant for the lower level course that the physics teacher taught so I had a lot of time to get to know him and learn about all the cool physics lab related things in the backroom. I then graduated and went to college as a physics major and have not looked back, I have enjoyed getting to know all the professors at Chico State and they are all very kind and welcoming people who really want to help. The hardest part about being a physics major to me is the amount of jobs that will be out there after college, it is stressful to try and find much of anything without going to graduate school for either a Masters or PhD. That has led me to consider double majoring in either Mechanical or Electrical engineering, just for the better resume and more learning that would occur there. However, I have not pursued that and have instead stuck to just physics so far in hopes to attend graduate school and further the field by conducting research and development. (WC:269)
